Care and cleaning of wood products
Care and cleaning of wood products – Natural beauty with lasting quality
Wood is a living, natural material. It feels warm, has character, and each piece is unique in its structure. Whether it's a decorative object, a spiritual item, or a practical kitchen tool, proper care will help you preserve its function and natural beauty for a long time.
Gentle cleaning – for longevity and hygiene
- Clean wooden products with a slightly damp cloth.
- If needed, you can use a mild soap.
- Do not leave wooden products in water for extended periods or expose them to continuous contact with running water.
- Wood should never be cleaned in the dishwasher. Heat and moisture can damage the wood structure.
- Always allow the wood to dry completely after cleaning, preferably at room temperature.
Oils – protection, shine and long durability
Many of our wooden products, especially cutting boards, cooking spoons, bowls or other functional items, benefit from regular treatment with a natural, food-safe oil, for example linseed oil or special wood oil.
Oiling the wood offers several advantages.
- Protects the wood from drying out
- Preserves the natural color and grain
- Gives the wood a warm, natural shine.
- Extends the product's lifespan
Apply a thin layer of oil with a soft cloth, let it soak in, and then polish with a dry cloth. Depending on usage, it is recommended to repeat this process approximately every one to three months.
Raw and untreated wood – natural aging
Some of our products are deliberately left untreated to allow the original beauty of the wood to show through and to enable natural aging. This applies particularly to decorative or spiritual objects, where changes over time and environment are part of their character.
You should not oil these products. Color changes or slight differences in the surface are part of their natural development.
Tips for maintaining wood quality
- Store wood products at normal room temperature.
- Avoid very humid or extremely dry environments.
- Protect wood from direct sunlight, as this can lead to discoloration or cracking.
- Keep wood products away from direct heat sources.
- If you want extra protection, you can occasionally use beeswax to create a gentle protective layer and a natural shine.
With proper care, wooden products will last for many years. They remain functional, beautiful, and retain their natural character.
